HDD DIRECTIONAL DRILLING

Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)

Directional boring, commonly known as horizontal directional drilling (HDD), is a steerable trenchless method of installing underground pipe, cable, or conduit in a shallow arc along a prescribed bore path by using a surface-launched drilling rig. This method causes minimal impact on the surrounding area.

Horizontal directional drilling creates properly sized pathways that allow cables, utility lines, and water or sewer pipe to be “pulled” without disrupting sidewalks and roadways above. This is also a good solution when natural terrains like rivers or creeks pose an obstacle to underground construction. Lynx Creek uses the latest in HDD technology to pinpoint the exact bore path, in conjunction with a trained technician using a superior locating system to pinpoint the exact location of the buried drill head.

Benefits of Directional Drilling

Decreases traffic disruption when working near or under roadways or streets
Eliminating costly access pit construction
Handles difficult underground directional requirements
Reduce delays and speed up completion times
Reduces environmental impact and site “foot print”
Significantly reduces site remediation costs
